A Note from the Executive Director

Dear {contactfield=firstname|Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation Friend},

We say goodbye to the summer, wrapping up another great season full of activities. Sno-Isle Libraries’ Summer Reading program ended with a record 6,281 finishers and over 2.4 million minutes read! The Foundation provided prize books to our young readers and donated 1,800 books to kids at 15 Boys & Girls Clubs in Snohomish and Island counties.

In August, we joined a long list of community organizations at the annual Mariner Fest, which helped support over 1,500 students with backpacks and supplies for the new school year.

The Foundation funded a variety of engaging programs this summer - from drumming together with Seattle Hand Drummers at the Snohomish Library to learning the ancient art of Madhubani Painting at the Mountlake Terrace Library, and launching water rockets at the Stanwood Library.

Thank you for making these and many other library programs possible with your generous support!

Heading into the fall, we celebrate Cartober – a national campaign that raises awareness about vehicle donations as a powerful means of giving. Donating your unwanted vehicle is a great way to support your library and you may qualify for a sizable tax write-off.

Lastly, I want to share my excitement and enthusiasm as we welcome eight new members to our Board of Directors. I look forward to their leadership in continuing to grow the impact of philanthropy on our libraries, and feel hopeful and energized about what the future holds for the Foundation.

With gratitude,

Sno-Isle Libraries Staff Spotlight: Kathryn O'Brien

Sno-Isle Libraries’ amazing staff are the heart of our libraries. Get to know Kathryn O'Brien, library associate at the Clinton Library.

“One of my earliest memories is hiding under my father’s desk at the library stamping something I probably shouldn’t have been stamping with the little date stamp librarians used back in the day.”

Brier Library Trivia

  • The current Brier Library was constructed in 1996. The original library, which sat on the same site, was approved by city ordinance in 1974 and was located within the old Brier City Hall building.
  • The Brier Library premises sit on a Brier Wildlife Habitat, complete with a pollinator garden curated by a local team of wildlife volunteers. With a population of approximately 6,463 residents and a total area of roughly 2 square miles, Brier residents pride themselves on the city’s rural feel despite being surrounded by larger cities.
  • Every summer, Brier Library staff host the annual Brier KidScare event. The event is the precursor to the annual Brier SeaScare Porchlight Parade and engages kids and families in pirate-themed crafts and activities.
  • On the southern side of the library grounds lies the famous Brier horse hitch. Depending on the day and time, lucky visitors just might catch a rare glimpse of local equestrians taking their horses to the library.

Learn more about the Brier Library’s upcoming events, including Teen Zombie Board Game Night and Haunted Candy Houses with Imagine Children's Museum.
